Steam train and walk, Princes Risborough to Chinnor, 31 July

Published by Morley Ramblers on

Barbara is offering a pop-up walk, plus a short ride on a steam train, to members of the North London HF group and the Morley College Rambling Club on Thursday 31st July. Details are:   Princes Risborough to Chinnor by steam train, then walk back to Princes Risborough.

Train: Marylebone 10.06, arrives Princes Risborough 10.51.   The steam train leaves Princes Risborough at 11.25.    (To be absolutely sure of making the connection, Barbara will probably take the 9.40 from Marylebone, arriving at Princes Risborough at 10.21.) The single fare on the steam train for Senior Citizens is £10.  Anyone not wishing to walk back should buy a return ticket for £14 (the full adult return fare is £16).  There will be plenty of time to buy our tickets at Princes Risborough.

The Chinnor to Princes Risborough railway is using an American steam locomotive this year in place of the traditional tank engine.

We shall spend about 15 minutes looking round Chinnor station, before setting out on the walk back.  Lunch will be near The Lions at Bledlow.   Service there is very slow, so please bring a picnic with you.  Snacks are also available at Chinnor station.   No stiles and, apart from a gentle climb up to the Ridgeway, no ascents or descents. The return walk is about 4½ miles.
