Hammersmith to Putney, 22 Feb
We will be meeting at Hammersmith Underground Station (District & Piccadilly lines – not the other one, which is opposite) at 10.30 am by the ticket machines.
The walk: This is a Thameside walk – all on the flat, although there may be some wet or muddy areas.
Lunch: in Barnes village at the Sun Inn pub; there are also places opposite for those who wish to picnic. I will not be booking a table at the pub as we will be there by midday when they open. Please check the menu on their website: www.suninnbarnes.co.uk
During the afternoon we will be making our way towards Putney along the opposite Thames riverbank, past Hammersmith Bridge and the London Wetlands.
Drop off points: at Barnes village (buses) and Barnes Bridge Station for trains to Waterloo. Also at Hammersmith Bridge to return to the start of the walk.
The walk finishes at Putney Bridge, where we can enjoy tea and cakes at the cafe in St Mary’s Church. Alternatively, you can visit Fulham Palace on the other side of Putney Bridge.
There are plenty of buses at Putney bridge and the District Line runs from nearby Putney Bridge Station.
Please let me know if you have any queries – looking forward to seeing you on Saturday.
