Taplow to Maidenhead

Published by Havil on

Sometimes the stars align to make what could be a fairly average walk a much more memorable day.

18 ramblers gathered on a cold and frosty morning on Saturday 11th to reach the New River at Taplow for a short walk to Ray Mill Island at Boulter’s Lock.

The sun shone on the water and the frost providing a beautiful backdrop as we continued on the Thames path, along the Clivedon Reach, then through woods to Cookham for lunch.

The lunch stops worked well for all. Two members found their way back home and a couple of friends of our group joined for a short while.

A slight thaw made conditions underfoot a little difficult, but all enjoyed the changing views onthe afternoon walk back to Maidenhead.

Thanks to Christine, Mary-Jane, Joan, Carole and Sigrid for photographs received.
