Christmas lunch, 16 Dec

Walk. For those who wish to join the pre-lunch walk (c two miles) led by Sally, please meet at Canary Wharf Jubilee Line station entrance/exit at 10.50. This is reached by an up escalator, which gives onto a small square with, on the right, Reuters Plaza with the large clocks and, on the left, a post box; straight ahead is a stretch of water (Canary Wharf view). The pre-lunch walk takes us down the Isle of Dogs peninsula via Millwall Dock, Mudchute Park to Island Gardens where we use the Greenwich tunnel to reach Greenwich/Cutty Sark. It’s then less than 10 minutes to the restaurant, the Oystercatcher. Walking is on hard surfaces (roads and pavements).  

Tony will lead an optional post-lunch walk back to Rotherhithe for bus and tube links from there.

Lunch. To join the lunch you should already have pre-booked and paid (not including drinks and other extras).

Those who are lunching but not walking should have received details of some transport routes to the Oystercatcher. Here is a summary: (a) Bus 188 to Creek Road/Normal Road bus stop Y, just one stop before Greenwich centre/ main transport hub at the DLR station; (b) Jubilee Line to Canary Wharf, then change on to the DLR at Herons Quay and go to Cutty Sark DLR; (c) mainline train from London Bridge to Greenwich station.
