Hayes (Kent) Circular

Published by Havil on

25 November. As advertised, this was a fairly short walk with no significant inclines, almost entirely on woodland paths. The description and a clear sunny, if cold, autumn day attracted 22 members plus a welcome guest.

There was time for a break for comfort and refreshments after a mile or so walk across the commons, before setting off along the Ravensbourne trail to reach Keston ponds.

The lighting effects were a gift for photography, and thanks to all who forwarded their pictures.

The pub in Keston were forewarned of the size of our lunch group and were very welcoming and efficient. An inevitably long break was not a problem as the return route on the Three Commons Way was always planned to get back to the station before dark.

After goodbyes to our local rambler, the group did not join the wait for the turning on of Christmas lights, but Christine M captured the security measures in place.
