Hayes (Kent) Circular, 25 Nov

Published by Havil on

Travel: 9.35 from Charing Cross, 9.38 Waterloo East, 9.45 London Bridge, destination Hayes (Kent); arrive 10.20. Ticket – within travel zones. Return trains, 4 per hour. There are buses from Keston back to Hayes Station. There are probably no toilets on the train, and the station toilet at Hayes may not be open.

The Walk: No more than 7 miles, almost all on woodland paths with no inclines of note. Conditions underfoot are likely to remain wet, therefore potentially slippery and muddy. However, the forecast is hopefully good for Saturday.

There will be some busy road crossing.

We will reach Keston after about half an hour’s walk and will stop for refreshments and use of toilet facilities. The walk will then reach the river Ravensbourne and Keston ponds. This will not be the picnic lunch stop as we will return to Keston for a lunch option at the Greyhound pub.

The afternoon will be a short walk back to Hayes across the common.
