Guildford Figure of Eight, 18 Nov

Published by Morley Ramblers on

Please note  change of train time from that shown originally.

Train departs London Waterloo 09.27.(Later than on the programme)  Arrives Guildford 10.02. (Same as on the programme). Stops at Clapham Junction and Woking.

The walk. Ten miles. In the morning we go up to Pewsey Down, before circling back along the river Wey to Guildford for lunch. Walkers to make their own arrangements – there are plenty of cafes and pubs.

In the afternoon we’ll go up to the Cathedral and then south and east, passing the burial place of Lewis Carroll. There’s a stiffish climb in the morning and two shorter ones in the afternoon.

There will be muddy parts, especially in the morning so you may wish to bring walking poles. Morning and afternoon are both about 2 hours walking. I’d like to keep us moving so we can get back to Guildford before it gets too dark and cold and miserable.  We have done this walk before but conditions were poor and only three of us managed  the afternoon so here’s hoping……
