Train time change, 29 April

The train this Saturday is the 9.35 from London Bridge arriving at Balcombe at 10.16.

There are 2 trains an hour returning from Balcombe. Bus 272 calls at our lunch stop at Wakehurst Place in the direction of Three Bridges or Haywards Heath. If you plan to return from Haywards Heath it is one stop further out of London than Balcombe. The bus also stops in Ardingly providing a means for a short, easy walk before lunch.

The full walk is not difficult but does have lots of ups and downs, including some short but quite steep ascents. The morning is the longer, arguably nicest, part of approximately 9/10 miles total. There will probably still be some mud ! (Update possible after the recce this week.)

The cafe at Wakehurst Place should be available, otherwise there are picnic spaces outside of the gardens that you have to pay entry for (unless a Member of the National Trust).
