Elephant and Castle to Peckham

22 August. On a lovely day for a walk, nine members met at the Elephant Park and followed through some pocket parks via East Street Market and St Peters Church to reach Burgess Park.

The small amount of rain during the week had not yet let the park begin to recover from it’s parched state common throughout Southern England. But the views from the earth banks still impressed those new to this young expanse of usually green Southwark. And the cafe was also much appreciated.

The walk of not more than 5 miles reached the volunteer garden (and Sauna) which was open for inspection. 2 left at this point, including the leader, so Mary-Jane led the last leg back towards Camberwell and the South London Gallery. It was unfortunately very full on the last weekend of an excellent exhibition.
