Cambridge North to Cambridge South, 1 Aug

Published by Havil on

STOP PRESS! TRAINS CANCELLED FROM KINGS CROSS. Meet at Kings Cross early, probably to get a train from St Pancras

Train 9.24 from London King’s Cross. Buy return to Cambridge North (stop after Cambridge). Meet 10.21. (Note that the return tickets valid on slower routes back to London via Liverpool Street or London Bridge,  but some are very slow).

Lunch is planned to be at Newnham as a picnic. There are opportunities to buy food and drink during the walk and drop out options all the way.

The walk. The whole walk is probably less than the advertised 9 miles and those familiar with Cambridge will know not to expect hills. There is not much shade if it is hot, but the walk can be shortened as necessary.

We will reach Grantchester for a tea break, then on to Byron’s pool nature reserve. The final route is across fields to the newest main line station in the country at Cambridge South.

However,  there are still options for those wishing to explore the city of Cambridge from where you can also return from the main station.

There is the possibility of swimming allowed in the river. Please note the Club is not responsible for those enjoying such activities.
