Morley College Ramblers Photographic Competition 2025 attracted 134 entries over the five categories from 13 members. The main categories,  and the number of entries in each were: A – Landscape & Scenery  (35), B – Flora & Fauna (30), C – People (18), D – Architecture & Art (24), E –  Special category Symmetry (27). Asimina Giagoudaki from the Photography Department at Morley College Chelsea was our new judge this year.

Our Photo Comp social took place at Morley College Waterloo on Friday 20th March and about 26 members came. After a showing of the 134 entries, Asimina had talked through the 25 images she had selected, five for each category. She gave an interesting introduction to her judging and her comments and remarks on the photographs were well received. The first ones in each category were:   A Christine Rodgers – Himalayan Sunrise.  B Terry Hanafin – Blending In.  C Howard Somerville – Making his Point.  Christine Rodgers – The Mosque at Cordoba  E Sue Charteris – Angkor Sunrise. The judge’s selection for the Maria Lee prize was Christine Rodgers, The Mosque at Cordoba. The judge received a Royal Academy voucher and a book token totalling £40 and the Maria Lee prize was a £15 book token.

Room booking was a bit complicated this time but Theepika Gunarajah at External Bookings sorted it in the end. We had room WC21 and though one room fewer than last year, it still gave us space for drinks and refreshments afterwards. Olu and Ryan from Premises were very helpful as ever and Steven from Morley IT made sure the image showing ran smoothly.  Many thanks to Sally Marullo and Christine Martin for organising the refreshments and to all those members who brought food, moved boxes and made cakes – especially Daphne who ensured that one of her cakes was there though she was not in the country.
