Maze Hill to Rotherhithe, 28 Mar

THIS IS A CHANGE FROM ORIGINAL PROGRAMME. Due to a foot injury, Janet cannot lead the advertised walk. Many thanks to Christine M for this alternative at short notice.

Train: Cannon Street 9.56, London Bridge  10.01, Arrive Maze Hill  10.12. (All within the freedom pass zone.) Return from Rotherhithe. Frequent service

The Walk: About 8 miles. A beautiful walk with stunning view points of the river.

Starting with the only hill at…Maze Hill, we go through Greenwich Park (maybe the cherry blossoms will be out?) then through little known lanes . We then descend to the River ,avoiding the crowded town  centre to join the Thames path .

We have lunch after we cross Deptford creek.  After lunch we carry on through Bermondsey with its rich heritage to arrive at Rotherhithe.

Drop out points: Numerous drop out points throughout the walk.

Lunch. Several options: Picnic in Twinkle Park, or Sienna café , or The Helm community café  (you can bring your own food if you buy a drink), or pub Dog and Bell (no tables booked)

Toilets : At the Observatory approximately 1 hour after the start of the walk, and at lunchtime
