Woldingham Circular and on to Riddlesdown

This walk now has an extended route (10-11 miles) and change of train times: Victoria 09.20, Clapham Junction 09.27, East Croydon 9.40, Woldingham 9.56. (East Grinstead train.) Woldingham is one station beyond zone 6. Riddlesdown is within zone 6.

Lunch. My planned lunch pub is closed for renovations. So the morning walk will return to Woldingham for lunch at the Dene Garden Centre (with a very nice cafe). We pass Woldingham station on the way back, so this is an easy drop out point at lunchtime. Each half of the walk is a bit over 5 miles.

The walk.  The morning goes through woodlands, on an undulating path with some short steep sections. Magnificent views southward, albeit across the M25. It may be muddy, so poles are advised for those who use them.

In the afternoon we continue up to Riddlesdown. There is one very steep and awkward climb immediately after lunch. After that we are on a mix of residential streets and country paths, before we come out on to Riddlesdown Common and make our way along the top of the common, again with lovely views, to Riddlesdown Station.
