Leigh (Kent) Circular, 30 Aug

Train times (Dover Priory train) are slightly changed: Charing Cross 08.58, Waterloo East 09.02, London Bridge 09.07. Change Tonbridge (arr 09.54, leave 10.01). Arr Leigh 10.05 (Redhill train).The changeover at Tonbridge is a bit tight, and we have to cross the bridge from platform 3 to platform 1. The first (front) carriage of the train is best, because it is nearest to the bridge.

The Walk is 9-10 miles in the Kentish weald, around Penshurst, with views from both side of the Medway valley. We pass through the Penshurst Place estate on the way out and back, and otherwise we are walking in fields and woods. There is a short steep hill up just before lunch and a rather awkward downhill path just after lunch. Poles recommended if you use them. Short amounts of road walking.
