Photo Competition 2024-5
Morley College Ramblers Photographic Competition 2024 attracted 176 entries over the five categories from 17 members. The main categories, and the number of entries in each, were: A – Landscape & Scenery (50), B – Flora & Fauna (38), C – People (29), D – Architecture & Art (36) and the special category this year was E – A Tight Squeeze (23). Niki Sianni from Morley College Photography Department at Chelsea Centre was our judge once again.
Our Photo Comp social took place at Morley College Waterloo on Friday 21st March and 30 members came. On the day Niki Sianni was not able to attend following an accident but she had already completed the judging and sent her selected images – 5 for each category – and one overall winner. All 176 entries were viewed and the judge’s selected images presented. We missed having Niki present to give her commentary on the 25 finalists and the winners in each category. These were – A Howard Somerville – Medway valley in spring; B Linda Brett – Windsor reflections; C Christine Rodgers – Late night customer Sikkim Bank; D Elizabeth Halahan – Old window; E Howard Somerville – Cart squeezing by. The winner of the Maria Lee prize was Christine Rodgers.
Again this year we had rooms C20 and C21 at Morley College Waterloo which gave us space to serve drinks and refreshments and have a social gathering afterwards. At Morley Waterloo Isobel at Room Bookings, Fred and Ulu at Premises and Nazim and Hakiim from IT helped to make it all run smoothly. Many thanks to Sally Marullo for organising the refreshments, to Daphne for lovely cakes, and to all those members who brought food and drinks, made goodies and carried boxes and stacked chairs after. My thanks especially to Sigrid for all her support on Photographic Competition 2024.
