Sussex harbours
28 September. It was a rare sunny day for Sally’s famous Fishbourne to Bosham walk. But the train started announcing signal problems when we were not long out of Victoria. To cut a long story short, we started the walk at Chichester (because the train stopped there) and walked down the old Chichester Ship Canal to Chichester Marina. We saw one pleasure boat not far out of Chichester – but the canal soon runs into reeds, so no help in getting us to the Marina.

At the Marina we regrouped. Chris and Linda (car travellers) had walked the intended morning route from Fishbourne. We enjoyed elevenses at the Marina. And then, because the trains had delayed us and we had a casualty to be taxi’d back to Chichester, we had choices. In the end, we split into three: the taxi party (three); three who walked back to Fishbourne; and eleven who carried on to Bosham. All parties ended up at Chichester Station (because the trains were still running from there) but at different times.

Along the foreshore back to Bosham

We were late by the time we got in sight of Bosham, so we did not visit the village and its tea shops, but found a short cut in the direction of the station. Thanks to Mary-Jane and Google maps, we did not have to walk all the way to the A259 for a bus stop, but chanced on an hourly bus much closer in. Then back to Chichester Station.
