Watton at Stone Circular, 28 January
This walk is just over 10 miles long, gently undulating and moderately easy, but it could be muddy underfoot so sticks would be useful.
Outward trains leave Moorgate 9.13 and Finsbury Park 9.27, arriving Watton at 10.12. (On return there is a half hourly service to London).
The lunch stop is at Dane End, the Boot pub (arrival 12.45?). This pub has never been busy in my experience, but recently has been taken over by a very pleasant manager who says, with notice, she could provide hot snacks (not really full luncheons). Also it’s a warm welcoming environment.
There aren’t any good places to have a picnic lunch nearby; but one could lunch at the (fairly) nearby church, a large field away. I would suggest those wanting to eat at the pub, let me know by Thursday morning please. I can then let the landlady know numbers and what’s on offer. It would also be helpful to know who’s planning to come on the walk.
Many thanks, Sally
