Norbury to Tooting Bec, 26 November

Published by Crisps on

The walk – only 7 miles, not 8 as advertised

Through parkland, commons and three small woodlands. Hard paths have soft side alternatives – some mud. Good views across S and W London in the morning.

The section linking the morning and afternoon is about a mile of street walking which avoids busy roads. .

This can be cut out by a postprandial stroll across Streatham Common and catching the 249 bus to meet the street walkers at Garrads Road, Tooting Common.

Transport

We will take a later train  10.12 London Bridge service arriving at Norbury at  10.42.

This is because otherwise we would get to the lunch spot too early.

I will board the train at Streatham station.

There is an opt out point after lunch -Streatham station or many buses .

End at Tooting Bec athletics track- bus to the Tooting Bec tube or , if coming to tea, extend via Graveney woods and take bus at end of street to Tooting Broadway tube.

Food

Lunch is at The Rookery Cafe on Streatham Common or bring your own picnic and eat it in the Rookery. There are loos at the cafe.

You are invited back to my house after for tea. (NB my baking is not up to the high standards set by some Morley Ramblers.)

Hope to see you on Saturday,

Sue
