The walk  11.5 miles. Mainly flat.

Two thirds in shade- woodland or canal paths. Some open fields after lunch. Includes Dogmersfeld Park estate, a couple of interesting churches, riverside paths, canal towpath, medieval castle. Afternoon is slightly longer but more straightforward than the morning walk.

Opt out point at lunch – Odiham – 5.5 miles where there is an hourly bus back to Hook station. The stop is 7 minutes walk from the pub. Buses leave at 13.45; 14.55 and 15.45 Journey time 12 minutes.

Lunch  Bel and Dragon Odiham. I will book a table for 8 in the shaded garden. It is pricey but the Red Lion next door, also an option, does not appear to have garden. Sandwiches best eaten in churchyard. There is an excellent deli opposite the pub which also makes up sandwiches Odiham is an interesting and attractive settlement so not a chore to spend time there waiting for a bus.  Hope to see you there and that it is no too hot. I did the recce in 28 degrees and it was fine. Sue.
