Balcombe Circular, 30 April

Published by Morley Ramblers on

Another Bank Holiday weekend on April 30th, so please check for any rail disruptions, but the planned train is as advertised on our programme. The Thameslink train at 9.15 from London Bridge due to arrive at Balcombe at 9.55, comes from north of the river and also calls at East Croydon.

The lunch stop is at Wakehurst Place where the cafe, shop and toilets will be available and there are areas for a picnic. There is a fee for entry to the gardens and limited time to make it worthwhile unless you are a member or choose to end the walk there. There is an approximately 2 hourly bus service from Wakehurst Place which also calls at Ardingley for anyone wishing to shorten the walk of about 9.5 miles, 15K. However, the bus route is Hayward’s Heath to Crawley so those using it would need to buy an additional ticket to the outward return to Balcombe.

The walk is mostly easy, but there are a few short but significant climbs in the morning and the (shorter) afternoon.  Tony
