Hampton Court, 23 April
It seems SW railways in their wisdom have decided to carry out Works on Saturday so the train times have CHANGED and there is gruesome bus replacement as follows:
Train leaves Waterloo 9.21 bus replacement from Raynes Park, arrives Hampton Court Station 10.29.
Train leaves Clapham Junction 9.33 bus from Wimbledon, arrives Hampton Court 10.29
Take 9.04 from Waterloo to Kingston thence 111 bus, arrives Hampton Court Green 10.02. 6 min walk to HC Station .
Johanna will meet the group at Hampton Court Station.
There is no need to book for the pub.
There is similar bus replacement for return from West Byfleet
BUT the weather looks OK!
You will need to purchase a single ticket from West Byfleet station (£3.30 with a Senior Railcard) to the Zone 6 boundary (which is Surbiton) at the end of the walk.
The walk: This 10 mile walk from Hampton Court station is along the River Thames in the morning and the Wey Navigation in the afternoon. It is all on the flat (with no stiles) but please note that there are bars rather than steps on the small bridges over the locks.
For those people who just want to do the morning section, there are 2 options. Either take the Shepperton ferry and walk straight to the station (about 20 minutes) from the opposite side of the Thames. Alternatively, it’s approximately 25 minutes walk to Weybridge Station from the first road bridge over the Wey Navigation.
Lunch is in Weybridge either in the pub – The Old Crown, where there is an outdoor terrace – or a picnic, there are seats near the Shepperton ferry crossing.
