Charing circular, 9 April

‘This is a 10-mile pleasant circular walk from Charing, Kent in gently undulating ‘Darling Buds of May’ countryside in the throes of spring – hopefully bluebells, primroses, apple blossom. Unlike previous visits, there is no pub at our lunch stop Pluckley that we can use; it has now been converted into a gastro restaurant only (no non-diners can get a drink as the unpleasant landlord informed us). So you need to bring a packed lunch with all your refreshment needs. (Charing station has no loos or eateries or indeed nearby pubs!) Just shows how countryside facilities have changed under Covid! There are benches in the Pluckley churchyard. The outward train leaves at 9.25 from Victoria to Charing (I think final destination Ramsgate), arrives 10.46. The return hourly trains leave Charing at 39 past the hour.’
