This week’s walk (30 October) West Byfleet Circular

Published by Morley Ramblers on

Linda and Chris send the following message about this Saturday’s walk:

The circular walk this Saturday from West Byfleet is mostly flat with one short steep incline in the afternoon, two motorway bridge crossings and four styles (one in the morning, three in the afternoon). It follows the Basingstoke Canal and Wey Navigations and crosses Wisley and Ripley Commons in the morning and in the afternoon goes across fields and a golf course and follows the Wey Navigation again. Please note the following:
– we will not be on the train from Waterloo but will be meeting you at West Byfleet Station.

– the distance is just over 10 miles rather than the 9 stated in the programme.

– the morning is 6 miles and approximately 2.5 to 3 hours.

– there is an hourly bus to Kingston from Ripley for those who wish to do the morning only.

– it will be muddy in places if it has rained beforehand.

– there are seats on Ripley Common and public toilets for those who take a picnic lunch.

РI will try to book a table at a pub in Ripley but will need to know who would like a pub lunch by the morning of Thursday, 28 October. On the recce the pub closed early so if I am unable to I will let people know on Thursday evening. Alternatively there are two cafes that you can try.- at the end of the walk there are a couple of cafes near the station.
