This week’s walk (31 July) Manningtree circular
Train times still as per programme, 09.30 from Liverpool street station, arriving Manningtree at 10.27 am
Lunch at Dedham – I have spoken to the Marlborough Head pub and they’d need to have number of people wishing to eat. Therefore, anyone coming on this walk could you please let me know whether you’d be eating at the pub or just come for a drink, please. I’ll be limiting the total number to 15 on this occasion. We’ll still need to observe some Covid-19 etiquette, ie masks on trains and when moving about inside pub/cafe etc.
I’ll have to take a different route after lunch to East Bergholt as the foot bridge over the river Stour is inaccessible at the moment – this means that my diverted route does not offer a quick way to Flatford Mill. The overall mileage for the whole walk however would still remain at approx 8.5/9, with some moderate uphills mainly during the morning. There’s no direct bus from Dedham to Manningtree on Saturdays but I believe that a bus goes to Colchester railway station. If you wish to break off at lunch time please let me know.
This area is very popular so I expect it to be busy but we’ll be stopping for a tea/ice cream break at Flatford Mill (alas, they don’t take any pre-bookings so we’ll have to take our chances when we get there).
Would you please confirm with me by email, if possible. Any questions, please ask me. (Non-members please contact firstname.lastname@example.org)
Look forward to seeing you on the day – I think the weather might have improved by then. Happy walking, Sigrid
